What made it work was the characters, the dialogues and the whole universe. And this movie knows exactly what its fans want.

You get Guddu Bhaiya’s impulsive nature, Bablu’s sharp mind, Munna Bhaiya’s overconfidence, Kaleen Bhaiya’s calm badass aura and now Ravi Kishan’s Babban, who starts off almost jolly before showing just how brutal he can be. The movie keeps bringing back famous dialogues and moments from Season 1, and that is where the nostalgia really works. I like Jitendra Kumar, but his Bablu does not hit the way Vikrant Massey’s Bablu did. Vikrant had this really interesting combination of a physically fragile guy with a very sharp mind. That contrast was a big part of what made Bablu memorable. Here, that feeling is missing. Even the accent and dialect don’t always land for me, and because I have already seen Vikrant’s version, it becomes very difficult not to compare the two. Maybe this sounds harsh, but for me, it just doesn’t hit the same.

What Is Good in Mirzapur: The Movie?

Ravi Kishan and Ali Fazal are easily the standout performers for me. Ali Fazal completely nails Guddu. I especially liked seeing that old Season 1 version of Guddu again, the impulsive, steroid-obsessed and slightly kiddish menace that we don’t really get in the later seasons after everything that happens to him.

And Ravi Kishan is just a natural. There is one scene where Kaleen Bhaiya says, “Purvanchal mein bas ek hi darwaza hai aur woh humara hai,” and Ravi responds, “Agar darwaza khulega nahi toh tod denge.” The way that entire exchange plays out is just brilliant. Also, hearing the Mirzapur title track in a packed theatre was honestly worth the ticket price. There are some good songs too, although a lot of them feel like popular tracks chosen for the vibe rather than something created specifically for this film.

Is There a Post-Credit Scene?

Yes, there is a mid-credit scene. It basically hints at the ongoing rivalry between Guddu and Munna over their love affair. It does not really introduce a massive new plot point, but it is a fun little moment for fans.

And one more thing, the credit graphics are actually pretty cool. The animation of the cast and crew is a nice touch and definitely deserves some appreciation, so please wait and enjoy.
